Hutheesing Jain Temple


Hutheesing Temple is one of the best known Jain temples in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India. It was constructed in 1848. The construction of the temple was initiated planned initially by Shet Hathisinh Kesari Singh, a wealthy Ahmedabad trader who died at the age of 49. The construction was supervised and completed further by his wife, Shethani Harkunvar. The total cost was approximately Rs. 8 lakh, a major sum of that time. The temple is devoted to Dharmanatha, the fifteenth Jain Tirthankar. The temple was architected by Premchand Salat.

The Hutheesing family is a famous family of India, and they have built several Temples, Monasteries, Education and Welfare Institutes, Hospitals & Animal Shelters, Art-Culture & Heritage Foundations, as well as Trade and Industry, over the centuries which till today assist the people. They have been Titled & Honored by the Mogul Emperors, Rajput & Maratha Kings and British Rulers for their contributions. They were also known for their kindness as they were the first family to support Mahatma Gandhi in the fight for Independence.

Stone sculpture at Hutheesigh Jain Mandir is also a major point of attraction.
